'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the thrilling dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear after the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from outside the box, and his teammate immediately converted the loose ball before sprinting toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with supporters congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This capped an incredible turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It requires a strong mentality and focus just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has quickly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
